Manchester City are close to signing Sverre Nypan from Rosenborg. The Norway U21 international has ignored interest from the likes of Arsenal and Aston Villa in preference of a move to the Etihad Stadium, although Pep Guardiola will not be able to use the 18-year-old straight away as Hugo Viana intends to find an initial loan switch. Manchester City will pay Rosenborg £12.5m for Nypan – a record sale for a Norwegian club.
