Privacy policy

The short version

You can read Man City News Now without an account. We use Google Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they read. We don't run adverts, we don't sell data, and we don't build profiles of readers.

What we collect

Hosting logs

The site runs on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address, browser details and the pages you request to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. It may set a strictly necessary security cookie for that. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages and stories people read, how they found the site, and roughly where they are (country and city, not an exact location). It also records your device type and browser. We use this only to understand and improve the site.

Google Analytics sets cookies named _ga and _ga_ followed by our account ID, which last up to two years and tell Google when the same browser comes back. Google processes this data for us under Google's privacy policy and deletes it after a limited period.

Your cookie choice

If you're in the UK, the EU, the EEA or Switzerland, Google Analytics sets no cookies until you pressAccept on our cookie banner. Elsewhere it runs by default. Wherever you are, you can change your mind at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. We remember your choice in your browser's local storage, not in a cookie. You can also block cookies in your browser or install Google's opt-out add-on.

Story clicks

When you click through to a story, we add one to that story's click count, which feeds the Trending list. We store only the count, not who clicked.

Other services the site uses

We don't use advertising. If that changes, we'll update this page first.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask what personal data we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Email contact@mancitynewsnow.com. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
